ANDREAS ENSLIN: Absolutely – the tab is our laundry care line's new signature element. It opens a flap at the base of the machine, revealing the detergent dispenser, pumps, and filters – thus combining form and function. The tab's design and feel are inspired by textiles, a choice that reflects the very nature of laundry care. These appliances come with a wide range of complex programmes, which is evident in their interface. But not everyone wants to dive that deep. So, how do you handle this?
ANDREAS ENSLIN: Reducing complexity is important – that's why the most-used functions are right on the top level of the new operating interface. Just choose a preset and you're good to go – it's quick and easy. If you want more control, the interface and Miele app offer a whole world of personalisation. You can easily access numerous advanced settings and discover special programmes for different fabrics and tough laundry care challenges.
Miele places great importance on repairability. What impact does this have on the design of your machines?
ANDREAS ENSLIN: For us, sustainability starts with design. Our use of durable materials ensures our appliances will function reliably for years to come. From the very beginning of development, we work closely with our customer support team to ensure that all of the main components are easily accessible and straightforward to replace. We actively support our users in the rare event of a fault. The appliance provides clear error messages and connects directly to the Miele app via a QR code, offering clear self-help guidance or quick access to customer support.
