Devices used for machine and process control require a number of safety-critical features that are not present in regular tablets or smartphones. They can be used in professional environments, however, when installed in special frames or mounts like the SP 200 and SM 200 safety panels, which provide the necessary functions, such as an emergency stop button, an enabling switch and a rotary encoder. Safety data is transmitted from the panels via a separate safety gateway, while standard functions use Wi-Fi. The ergonomic panels are compatible with most consumer-level mobile devices and are certified to DIN EN 13849-1.
JURY STATEMENT
This is a very good, cost-effective solution that adapts standard modern tablets for process and machine control. The safety-relevant control elements are cleverly integrated into the panels and the design ensures optimum handling, even during long periods of use.
