The construction industry is responsible for over half of all waste generated in Germany. This is a major problem requiring forward-looking solutions, such as sustainably developed materials and recyclable processes. Willowprint, a university startup, has engineered a 3D-printable material from wood waste that offers a sustainable alternative to resource-intensive building materials like cement and steel. The stool pictured here is from Willowprint's first line of 3D-printed furniture, which can be recycled or completely composted at the end of its life.

JURY STATEMENT
It is exciting to see research focused on biogenic waste materials that were once virtually impossible to recycle. This unlocks new sustainable and circular opportunities. Willowprint, therefore, offers a compelling vision for the future of production processes.
