In larger cities and conurbations, housing is already a scare commodity. On the one hand, the tiny courtyard house sees itself as a solution model for responding to the growing housing shortage by utilising inhospitable areas of land. And on the other, it represents a well thought-through alternative to the ever-growing size of houses and apartments. All the required functions – kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and living area – are fitted into just 7.3 square metres. Because the tiny house is rigorously shielded from the outside world by closed facades and a perimeter wall that conceals a garden complete with fountain, its interior provides a great deal of privacy.

Jury
The approach of reducing urban living space to the essential functions and a minimal footprint is as interesting as it is intriguing and topical. The concept provides an excellent response to the traffic-choked surroundings by creating a secluded but easily accessible courtyard.
