The milling train consists of three wagons and is used to measure, mill and reprofile stretches of track without dust emissions – a process that is reflected in the graphic design of the train’s side panels. The most important element of all, however, is the head of the train: despite the limited possibilities of low-volume production, its striking design combines flat surfaces with sharp edges to communicate an unmistakeable impression of power. The lines of the windows, headlights and edges point downwards – in the direction of the rails where the grinding is taking place. The train’s slightly aggressive appearance is an intentional allusion to the milling process.

Jury
The milling process has been very successfully translated into a striking design language. In particular, the sharp edges at the front play a consistent and dominant role in shaping the train’s overall appearance. The design creates an appropriate aesthetic for what is purely a work tool and is consistent with other milling machines from the same manufacturer.
