Caring for people in their normal environment is a challenge that calls for appropriate aids, such as patient lifters for transferring people with limited mobility, usually from bed to a wheelchair and back again. However, the lifters available have a purely technical appearance that makes them look totally out of place in a home setting. Lyte is different – thanks to a design and materials that give the equipment a furniture-like character. The lifter is supported by three slim struts that rest on the floor. The actual lifting is done by an electric hoist equipped with an integrated scale. It is swivel-mounted on the slender boom and activated via wired remote control. The controls have been kept deliberately simple: the boom, for instance, is turned manually using a large handle. Rather than being
used in combination with a special bed, Lyte can be positioned right next to an ordinary bed without any additional fixings.

Jury
A very important product that provides valuable impetus for athome care. The new, aesthetically motivated concept is not stigmatising
and, because it can be positioned anywhere, solves many of the problems associated with conventional patient lifters. An immaculate
design for a difficult segment of the market.
