Anniversary Exhibition

30 Years of the Baden-Württemberg International Design Award

In the last 30 years, the Baden-Württemberg International Design Award has established itself as a constant in the state’s economy and is today held under the Focus Open label. The Design Center Baden-Württemberg is celebrating this anniversary with a retrospective exhibition that brings together original prize-winning products from the last three decades – including a mobile phone that fits into a waistcoat pocket from 1991, but also other things that have long since been erased from memory. Because it’s not just technology that evolves; our aesthetic preferences change as well. Consequently, the exhibition at the Haus der Wirtschaft in Stuttgart is a journey back in time too.

The 30 Years of the Baden-Württemberg International Design Award exhibition is open to the public until 28 January 2022. Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 11.00 – 18.00

Exhibition: GeschmacksSache

Landesmuseum Württemberg

Stuttgart, 18.11.2021 - 01.05.2022

There’s no accounting for taste? That opinion was definitely not shared by Gustav E. Pazaurek, a leading light at Stuttgart’s former Landesgewerbemuseum from 1906 to 1932. He believed that taste could be shaped by good and bad examples. This prompted him, from 1909 on, to compile a much acclaimed “collection of offenses against good taste” – a drastic demonstration of what he considered the “wrong” taste.

BLICKFANG is colourful, international and innovative – due in no small part to its designers, who all have one thing in common: the high design quality of their work.

This year, the well-established and popular BLICKFANG concept will be surprising visitors to the freshly renovated Liederhalle Culture and Congress Centre with a completely new design.

Exhibition: Schönheit, Glanz und Träume

Württembergische Landesbibliothek

With the Schönheit, Glanz und Träume (Beauty, Glamour and Dreams) exhibition, Württemberg State Library is showing a retrospective of the years between World War I and National Socialism.

With the cleverly compiled and extremely diverse Lucius Collection, the exhibition presents some exceptionally high-quality and expressive works on the themes and media of a highly attractive style. Even a hundred years later, the image of the Roaring Twenties seems to have lost nothing of its fascination – in these crisis-ridden times, the dream of beauty and glamour is more topical than ever.

The exhibition runs from 19 October to 02 January 2022.
