Long-haul flights in economy class are anything but a pleasure trip because the seats don’t permit a proper sleeping position. This new seat aims to change that: its ergonomically adjustable headrest holds the head in whatever sleeping position is most comfortable for the individual passenger, and the backrest cushion can be folded down to support the lumbar region. Last but not least, the seat itself can be extended by means of a fold-up add-on that allows more relaxed sitting positions. Because the seat is based on the standard version of the CL3710 and only a few new structural elements have been added, only a moderate amount of additional maintenance is required on the part of the airlines.

More comfort in economy class is long overdue. The new seat brings the goal of a more relaxing flying experience within reach – despite the narrow scope remaining in the light of economic considerations. The headrest would be a great addition to any seat – not just on long-haul flights.
