It’s a situation with highly charged historical dimensions: after 1945, 15 former victims of the Nazi regime and 14 of their persecutors are now colleagues, working next door to one another as police officers in Stuttgart’s Criminal Investigation Department. This is documented by files, application letters and passport photos. In order to convert these rather dry archive materials into a contemporary format, the exhibition makers came up with the idea of a “true crime” audio drama. In narration and dialogue, the specially developed audio app juxtaposes the perspectives of the persecutors with those of the persecuted, underlaid with a dramatically deployed and emotional sound design that keeps up the suspense.

JURY
Because it provides a very special kind of access to a largely unknown historical reality, the audio drama’s appeal is by no means limited to the younger generation. The format brings history to life and is both barrier-free and resource-friendly.
