Nowadays audio transmission systems are an almost standard feature of guided tours in cities, factories or museums. However, they only permit communication in one direction, i.e. from the guide to the participants, precluding the possibility of questions. That is about to change with this newly developed audio guide, which is equipped with a “talkback” function that even allows questions to be put to the entire group. The function is activated by turning the slender device upside down, giving it the character of a handheld microphone.
Both its dimensions and soft contours are intended to ensure ease of handling for users of any age. The display showing the channel is behind a dark surface that transitions into the top of the device with the headphone jack. The housing is designed for easy replacement should damage occur and provides easy access to the electronic components.
JURY
Activating the innovative talkback function by simply turning the device upside down is a very appealing idea. The large channel display likewise underscores the user-oriented approach. At the same time, the smart-looking device has been optimised for ease of repair.
