  Competitions

Exhibition at the MIK in Ludwigsburg from 10 October to 22 November 2020

Preparations for the exhibition are underway!

Once again, the results of the competition will be presented in Ludwigsburg, a city with a thriving film and media scene. This year too, the MIK – Museum, Information, Art – will provide a fitting venue for staging a fascinating exhibition of the award-winning products right in the heart of Ludwigsburg.

And there’ll be a publication too! The comprehensive exhibition catalogue will present all the award-winning products in both German and English. The top-quality images and detailed product descriptions are supplemented by vivid statements from the jury. The catalogue will be published in November.

 The Seeger Foundation

Mia Seeger Prize 2020

The Mia Seeger Foundation honours young designers

With the support of the German Design Council, the Mia Seeger Foundation called for entries for the Mia Seeger Prize 2020 and announced prize money of €10,000. Students and graduates of design-related courses at German colleges and universities were invited to compete for the awards. This year the jury presented 4 prizes and 4 Highly Commended distinctions. All the prize-winning works will be exhibited and published together with the Baden-Württemberg International Design Award, which is presented by the Design Center Baden-Württemberg.

 ENTDECKT

Young design firms in the spotlight!

ENTDECKT! is a very special initiative by the Design Center Baden-Württemberg.

The underlying idea behind Entdeckt is to track down design talents from Baden-Württemberg and give them the opportunity to present themselves to a broad public at the Haus der Wirtschaft, right in the heart of Stuttgart.

There are various ways of doing that: an exhibition together with other newly discovered designers, a small solo exhibition, a presentation in our library or a detailed portrait on our website and in our newsletter. These many and varied platforms are also promoted in other components of our public relations activities. The prerequisite: the participating designers have their studio in Baden-Württemberg and can present a compelling portfolio and exceptional projects!

Unfortunately, the exhibition planned for May 2020 had to be postponed. Now it’s scheduled to take place at the Haus der Wirtschaft in Stuttgart from 10 December 2020 to 25 January 2021.

To give you the opportunity to discover the young talents involved beforehand, we’re conducting interviews with them every month.

This month we’re presenting the Ponalto design studio from Waiblingen. You’ll find links to all the talented designers featured in ENTDECKT! 2020 here.

Fit For Market – Design Protection

Information event at the Patent and Trademark Center, Haus der Wirtschaft, Stuttgart, at 18:00 on 20 October 2020 (in German)

This autumn, the Design Center Baden-Württemberg and the Patent and Trademark Center Baden-Württemberg will once again be holding an event about design protection.

How can I protect my design? What do I need to pay attention to when I register it? What’s the right time to register a design? What costs can I expect? Questions such as these come up in relation to any creative work and design output. In addition to an innovative idea, good research and the right protection are vital for success. Failing to protect innovations appropriately at the right time can result in immense financial detriment and the loss of the hoped-for competitive advantage.

Find out how to protect the design of your products, what you need to watch out for when registering a design and what costs are involved at our Design Protection event – we’d be delighted if you could join us!
